The Yakuza series reaches 2.8 million sales on PC
Although Sega has admitted that the games are finally for a recess market, the Yakuza serial has managed to dumbfound some for years and produce a deal of enthusiastic fans. The series was trapped on consoles until PC ports started appearance just a couple of years ago, launching to great reviews—just take a look at our Yakuza 6 review. And now we know the impact of finally bringing Yakuza to PC, operating theatre at least how many copies were sold.
Sega recently held a direction meeting which revealed Yakuza's PC sales numbers. Since information technology started emotional the Yakuza PC ports in 2019, there feature been a sum up of 2.8 cardinal units of the serial sold worldwide. Niche is a congenator word for Sega, I reckon.
We reported back in 2020 that the courageous serial had reached 14 million sales on all platforms. Evidently there will have been an addition in this figure since so, but this new-sprung report doesn't mention how the Yakuza games are performing as a total. What the report does go into, however, is the positive effect of releasing games globally rather than staggering Japanese and West releases. Global launches are obviously pet for Western audiences as we've historically received games months or even years after the Japanese exit. But that might be about to modification.
Releasing Yakuza spin around-off Lost Judgment in the West simultaneously every bit Japan saw a 76% increase in its predecessor's sales in Western countries. Previously, Sega released the Western variant at a later particular date—this windfall in sales will hopefully convince IT to keep launching these games globally.
Unfortunately, Sega has already broken our hearts by telling us that it has no plans to release 2021's Lost Sagaciousness on Microcomputer. Some games in the whirl-off series reviewed well and we'Ra keeping our fingers crossed that the Personal computer Yakuza gross sales push Sega to consider porting the Judgment games over too.
What corpse unclear is what the futurity of the Yakuza games look like long-term. Toshihiro Nagoshi and Daisuke Sato, two of the masterminds behind the games, left Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio late hold up year. Nagoshi's parting message says the studio, upon their departure, will "enhance the founding" they laid and "deliver great games to the world". The Yakuza series will go on as turn-based games simply otherwise that, but otherwise we'Re inactive ready and waiting to ensure where information technology goes next.
Cheers, DSOG.
